There is hardly anyone at present time who has heard nothing about the representatives of emo culture, famous as emo girls and emo boys, or in general emo kids. Emo is a subculture of youth descended from the followers of the style in music with identical name. You can see emo boys and girls daily, though probably you do not pay attention to their outstanding style. With a general inclination to stand out of the crowd each person with a non-typical outward appearance seems just to express his personality. But nevertheless, you will easily recognize representatives of emo culture if you get to know their distinguishing features. Firstly, the term "emo" originates from the adjective "emotional", in such a way the fundamental rule for emo kids is to express their emotions. They are considered to be sensitive to what is happening around them and intolerant to injustice. They lay specific emphasis on sublime love. That's why there is a stereotype of emo representatives as weepy girls and boys. Emo boys and girls have a particular style so that they're easily recognized. Their common hairstyle is a skew fringe over one eye and short bristling hair on the back. The preference is given to straight black hair. Emo girls commonly give preference to child's hairstyle, for instance bows and pigtails. Both male and female representatives of emo culture usually get the ears pierced. They also sometimes have piercing on the face or other parts of body. Emo kids also generally underline eyes with black eyeliner or mascara, when at the same time the lips are close to the color of skin. Regarding the clothing, emo kids show preference to black color combined with pink. Black color stands for depression because of being rejected and misunderstood. Pink color emphasizes hopes of emo boys and girls for the positive future and their challenge to the common gloominess. These 2 colors are traditional for emo representatives, but other provocative color combinations are also used. Tight jeans, T-shirts and gymshoes are the most popular clothing for emo representatives. Emo culture is a specific trend of contemporary youth that assists them in expressing themselves and finding new friends that understand their vulnerable nature.
